Bull's-eye!

Today we have the same Qur’an with us. Millions of copies of it are in circulation. Day and night, it is ceaselessly recited. In homes, in mosques, and from pulpits. Voluminous exegetical works exist expounding its meaning. Words pour out incessantly to explain its teachings and to exhort us to live by it. Yet eyes remain dry, hearts remain unmoved, minds remain untouched, lives remain unchanged. Ignominy and degradation appear to have become the lot of the followers of the Qur’an.

Why? Because we no longer read the Qur’an as a living reality. It is a sacred book, but it tells us something of the past only, concerning Muslims and Kafirs, Jews and Christians, the faithful and the hypocrites, who 'once upon a time used to be'.

- Ustadh Khurram Murad, in his book "Way to The Qur'an"

P.S. - I know the red font looks highly idiotic, but html doesn't give me much choice.

salam, what do you mean? it's a perfect guidance, if only one reads it well. to be honest, i myself rarely read the Quran once, after the 1st khatam (maybe when I was 7), i thought it was graduation then there it is.

but grewing up & trying to read the translation (count your blessing you speak arabic), i realised there's a lot of good advices in the Quran. like being patient, humility towards parents, how to keep my finances, deals etc.

& it's many things that now, i know i should just follow the guidance. & it will work out. sometimes i don't know how to deal with stuffs. but i know i just need to follow the guidance & alhamdulillah. Masha Allah, it's the most healing, perfect book -- incomparable.

real muslims cry when they read the Quran. if you ever did, you'd know how it's specialness.

Walaekum As-Salam wa Rehmatullah.

Nisa, I really don't understand your point. The intent behind this post was to make people (including myself) realize that the reason we (Muslims) have so many problems today is 'cause we haven't been reading the Qur'an the way It should be read.

Umar (Radi Allah Anhu) was studying some Jewish scripture and the Prophet Muhammed (Salla Alla hu Alaiyis was Salam) told him "do study or use the old books for they have been contaminated." You will be lead away by shaitaan from the true path.

Salam Alaekum.

Could you provide me a link to that fatwa?

And it would be better if you e-mail it to me at saif.tyagi@gmail.com, instead of posting it as a comment here.

maybe the phrase "It is a sacred book, but it tells us something of the past only" made me think it's underrating to Quran. sorry if i mistaken it? still if you think we haven't been reading the Qur'an the way it should be read -- i did say "if only one reads it well" too.

so basically you did say what i'm saying anyway, ironically without understanding me at all. if you look at it, it's really a non issue.

anyway, maybe my words are not wanted. bye & God bless! :)

Salam Alaekum.

Nisa, the phrase you've quoted is a description of our attitude towards the Qur'an. He isn't asking us to treat the Qur'an that way, he's just trying to make us realize the problem with our attitude.

The misunderstanding was on your part. :)

Jazakillah for commenting anyways.

In the Name of Allah.

Saddam was not Islam in goverment or life. He first was a product of the communist Russians, then the United States demonstate. There were several so called sh'ites even in Saddams Republican guards.

Therefore we real Muslims will never be like either of those non-Muslims goverments. Ghangis Khan is what has invaded Iraq again. The original report of the rape/murder of little girls, the so called woman was a 15 year student and not a teacher, of secretarian violence leads a prudent mind to think that left alone Iraq will be a united country.

The secretarians seemed to be the Americans. That family as well as the raped girl may have even been "ALIVE" before they were burned by the US Troops not Al Crazy Bin Landen terrorist, but American peoples "support our troops" folks from Kentucky U.S.A. base.

It is America stupid which is the problem in Iraq. America goes and Iraq could become peaceful just like Viet Nam did when the US got out of grown nations business. Iraq was around long before the American pirates from England formed a nation.

Americas form of goverment is a perversion pirates who were kicked out of England 400 years ago.
